Transportation is an important facet of society’s dynamic and exciting endeavors. It is necessary to reach places that are needed in order to perform work or school-related activities. It is a must in order to extend the networks of trade and commerce. Now technology has made it possible for various forms of vehicles to not only serve the purpose of transportation but also determine the personality of the owner of that certain vehicle. A good example of this is the growing number of people who pump up their trucks with envying accessories. In lieu with this a sure fire way to determine the accessories fitted for your truck is to learn more about its types.

There are actually three primary classifications for road trucks and it is determined according to the weight of the vehicle. These are light trucks, medium trucks, and heavy trucks. There are also specialized forms that can be called as transporters and very heavy trucks which include off-road heavy trucks and heavy haulers. They are mainly utilized for works that entail construction, mining, and movement of oversized loads. These vehicles are usually escorted during highway driving and also require special permits in order to operate.

Although the three main categories of trucks are light, medium, and heavy there is a certain form that is widely used within the Asian circles particularly in Japan. It is called as Kei or Japanese mini truck. It can be described as a small yet practical form of pickup truck which is suitable for the Japanese practice of using light vehicles. They are also called as Keitora and microvan.

Light trucks are composed of minivans, canopy express, pickup truck, panel truck, tow truck, sedan delivery, and sports utility vehicles or SUVs. Medium trucks consist of box truck, cutaway van chassis, platform truck, flatbed truck, fire truck, and recreational vehicles or motorhomes. The heavy truck roster boasts of a ballast truck, crane truck or mobile crane, garbage truck, log carrier, refrigerator truck, semi-trailer truck, tank truck or tanker, and dump truck. It must be cleared that there are certain medium trucks that can also be considered as heavy trucks and vice versa due to size varieties.

SUVs are general terms for vehicles that have a similarity with a station wagon. It is commonly built to provide means for a four-wheel drive having off-road mechanisms with a towing capability of pickup trucks and a compartment that allows that carrying capacity just like a minivan. The panel truck and the sedan delivery are quite bred on the same design. The panel truck is a windowless van which is built on a truck chassis while its close cousin the sedan delivery is a station wagon with no backseat and no side windows particularly on the front doors. Both are being utilized for delivery, retail, and consumer convenience purposes.

The recreational vehicle or RV has been widely accepted in areas of North America. It is a vehicle that is normally equipped with features that can be likened to a natural home structure. Basically these structures include a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and a bathroom. The RV has been popularly utilized as a companion in long drives associated with camping and other nature-related adventures. It can also be used as a permanent shelter and usually situated within trailer parks.

Truck customizations range from simple accessories up to highly regarded technology such as internet and satellite TV entertainment. In order to get the best out of these innovative offers you should first know what fits the type of truck you have in your garage.

Everybody are loving trucks. According to the Automotive News Data Center report released in 2007, more than 8.2 million of SUVs and trucks were sold. Trucks are no longer for personal use, there are many small businesses that are investing on trucks for their work. Aside from investing on a well-maintained truck, owners find it as a pleasure to customize and personalize their trucks. Thus, the sales of truck accessories were also rising.

Pickup trucks are light motor vehicles that are capable of pulling heavy loads. There are several cars that can look like a pickup but are not really pickups. Like the El Camino which is based on station wagon platforms, pickups allow the chassis to flex. Vehicles like the pickup can have different names in different countries. For example, in South Africa it is known to be bakkie. While in Egypt it is often called as a “half truck.”

There are even sizes for pickups truck. Most of the trucks in North America are full-sized which means that they are large and heavy. There could also be mid-size and compact trucks which are smaller and were able to get their energy from the engines.

Almost all trucks would have similar parts. Here are some parts of a truck:

• Chassis is the main structure of the truck. Other automobile parts are connected to this. To make sure tat the chassis is lighter, aluminium is used by some of the manufacturers.

• The truck cab, meanwhile, is where the driver is seating. The part of the car where the driver rests when not driving is called the truck-cab. Truck cabs are with air conditioning, there are also great chairs that could make you really comfortable.

• The truck engine uses gasoline, primarily consumed by SUVs, pickups and in medium duty trucks. Heavier truck engines would use a four stroke turbo intercooler diesel engine.

Aside from the pickup tracks basic division of parts, it would be common to see different accessories that go with the pickup.

• Grill guards are intended to protect the front of the pickup for any damage brought by impact or collision. Aside from the protection that it gives to the owners and those who are riding the trucks, it also gives an aggressive look.

• Nerf bars are aluminium bars fitted on the side of the truck. It is both a step and a protection for the rocker panels against damage. As a step, it is easier to get into the vehicle.

• Headache racks are meant to protect your car from scratches because of transporting cargo. Since pickup are widely used for business, it is unavoidable that the rear glass would get some nasty scratches when hauling of cargo.

• Driving lights are to increase or achieve better visibility when driving in dark highways and roads. It could be placed on or over the rear so that you will be able to see better even when backing up.

There are too many truck accessories in the market and buying could really be difficult. You just have to keep in mind that truck accessories are meant to increase protection of the pickup and its passengers.

Trucks are commonly utilized for commercial trade and transport of goods and commodities. They are also having wide acceptance as a form of urban and off-road transport. These functions are attributed to the durability and sturdiness of the vehicle. At present more and more manufacturers are taking keen attention on making mechanisms and accessories that will not only pump up the power of the vehicle but also lift its image and sparkle. Now change is a good thing especially if it’s for the better but let’s go old school just a bit and set aside the accessories en route to an anatomical breakdown of the truck.

Before you personalize your very own heavy duty machinery, you must first be acquainted with the basic set-up of this vehicle. Trucks are of common structures and designs and are usually built with a chassis, a cab, a cargo placement portion, suspension and wheels, axles, drivetrain, and of course the one that makes it run, the engine. There are also systemic mechanisms that ensure the good performance of the vehicle. These are water, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

It’s time to kick things off with the cab. This is considered as the driver’s space. It can be described as an enclosed area wherein the driver finds a place to seat on. There is a compartment called a sleeper which is commonly attached to the cab. This serves as the driver’s resting cabin when he is not driving. There are three types of cabs used for trucks. The cab over engine or flat nose situates the driver on top of the engine and the axle while the conventional cabs let the driver seat behind the engine. There is also a rare type in which the engine is placed beside the cab.

It is said that the oldest truck was built by a guy named Gottlieb Daimler in 1896. During the past medium-duty trucks such as SUVs and pickups found in North America and Russia normally utilize gasoline engines but at present diesel designs and models are being widely embraced as evidenced by current truck classes of three to eight GVWs. The heavier forms of trucks are commonly powered by four stroke turbo intercooler diesel engines while off-highway types prefer the utilization of a V12 Detroit Diesel two stroke engines.

Truck transmissions vary according to the size of the vehicle. Smaller trucks have the same kind of transmission system found in almost all cars which can either be manual or automatic and equipped with synchronisers. The bigger and more powerful forms of trucks are commonly driven using manual transmissions but without synchronisers. These transmission forms are identified as crash boxes wherein the double-clutching technique for shifting is needed. Since double clutching normally ends up in repetitive motion injuries, floating is also employed in transmissions that do not have synchronisers. This method allows gear shifting without the use of clutch except during the starting and stopping of the vehicle.

The frame of a truck is commonly composed of two parallel boxed or C-shaped rails that are held together by crossmembers and is commonly known as ladder frames due to its similarity with a ladder. The rails have two shorter horizontal flanges and a tall vertical section. The height of the vertical segment is needed in order to provide beam resistance.

Accessories offer an exciting and educating exploration of vehicles and automobiles but it’s always better to know your truck inside and out before embarking on such deed.
